India Report

June 9, 2008

During the month we were in India this year, we were involved in Church planting, training pastors and leaders, ministry to the poor, to medical and university students, local church and local communities.

We were blessed and encouraged to have four extra people from South Africa with us on team for a week, all  contributing to the overall mission with their individual giftings.

On an evening of hospital visitation the first person the team prayed for was a young man called Ruben who had been in the hospital with Typhoid for several days and was deteriorating. Sweat poured off him as he struggled to even open his eyes. .  His wife wept at the foot of the bed as we laid hands on Him and prayed in the Name of Jesus. As we continued to move round the ill-equipped hospital praying for the sick, we became aware that Ruben was slowly following us and continued to do so till we left, declaring that he felt much better and ready to go home! He took our advice to stay till his strength fully returned and the following day  blood tests revealed that there was no trace of typhoid to be found.

What a  great commission we have and what a great privilege it is to be called to preach the Gospel and to promote Kingdom values.  There is no greater joy in life than to see the power of God at work transforming lives, communities and nations.

We want to thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter and for your relationship with us.   We all have a part to play in extending God’s Kingdom ….  no part is of lesser or greater importance than the other. In fact we have discovered that although we may be able to live without a limb or an ear we most certainly cannot live without a heart or a lung. Whether our contribution is seen or unseen is irrelevant. The important thing is that we work as a team to get the job done.

God’s love extends further than my life, my family, my community, my country —his heart is always for the nations. To have a heart  for the nations is to have the heart of God.  And this is what all of us are called to do …… to express his heart to the nations.  Whether we are senders or goers we are important to the plans and purposes of God.

May God bless each & every one of you and constantly increase your hunger for Him.

INDIA 2008

Winning Others Making Winners

As we swiftly head towards 2008 we are constantly reminded that time is short, the harvest is great and the labourers are few.
However, there is a great sense of anticipation and faith in our hearts as we look forward to launching out into the year ahead of us.

Like Abraham we are called to pilgrimage. God is not calling us to build a monument. Monuments only say “Well, At least I got this far.”
No – God is calling us to take another step … to make another footprint.
A footprint says,
“This is where I was when I moved again!”

Our first trip in 2008 will be to India. We will be ministering in Bangalore and then hosting a training seminar for around sixty leaders up in a mountain community. Friends from South Africa will be joining us this year on team and we are looking forward to working together in our varying gifts and talents.
Personally, we are planning an extended stay there. We will live with the people, ministering to them, teaching and training them and working out into the surrounding districts.

For most of these people and many others across the nations of the world, Christmas will come and go like any other day…… many homeless, many hungry, many lonely and most without hope. That is why partnership in the Gospel is so vitally important.

Those of you who have supported us in the past and up till now have been a great blessing and source of strength to us and we want to say “Thankyou! “ Your support has meant that we have been able to minister in many different nations of the world, bringing hope and encouragement.

People have been taught and trained, needy people have been clothed, empty stomachs have been filled, marriages have been mended and many have been saved, healed and delivered through the unfailing power of the Gospel.

More than ever we appreciate the power of your prayers behind us.
The apostle Paul in his second letter to the Thessalonian Church urged those who had been steadfast and unflinching in the midst of all kinds of persecutions
“Do pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may speed on (spread rapidly and run its course) and be glorified and triumph, even as it has [done] with you.”

This really is our heart’s desire that God’s Word would gain entrance into the hearts of men and women and that as a result they would be totally transformed by the power of God and thereby impact their communities.

We have just received further reports from the area where we work and want to make you aware of the situation there:

The rainy season continues to bring massive floods and damage to the area resulting in some families’ homes and livelihoods being totally destroyed.
Parts of the mountain where we minister has been reduced to bare rock face and running water, where there was once vegetation, tea & spice plantations.

Please pray for the community there during this particularly difficult season.
From their own meagre supplies they are doing their best to help those who have been worst affected with bits and pieces of clothing and food. They are always ready to share whatever they have to help but are very limited in comparison to the need.

We are reminded of what the word says in 1Jo 3:16-19 Message Bible.
“My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love.
This is the only way we’ll know we’re living truly, living in God’s reality.”

We personally want to reach out to help during this time of crisis. Please consider joining with us. We can do so much more together than we can individually. Many of the places we go there is no means of financing the work apart from what we personally and corporately give.

What we want to raise for this missions trip and extended stay is £10,000.
This includes:

• Hosting and funding the training seminar
• Distributing food to the hungry
• Finishing the building of the missions house base
• Drilling a bore hole for water
• Starting a fund for building a school for the children
(This is one of the things we will be researching whilst we are there)

Have a browse through the rest of our web-site  now and see some pictures of the work in India and other places where we minister.

Irene and I are excited about what the future holds, not only for ourselves but also for you. Every day there are fresh opportunities to make a difference to the world in which we are living, to add value to someone’s life and to discover that our lives matter. We want you to pray for us, as we do for you that the full potential of all God has placed within us will be released to its maximum effect.

Be bold, take action and help build the momentum we need to get the job done.

We urge you to keep reaching out prayerfully and practically to the nations.
Be a partner with us this coming year. To be a partner simply means that you make a quality decision to play a part! You can be a world changer by changing someone’s world somewhere. Let’s do it!
